1. Hygiene
Piercings require upkeep, which means cleaning; and certain parts of the body, such as the mouth, are more prone to infection than others. Make sure to emphasize the importance of regularly sanitizing piercings. For mouth piercings, encourage your pre-teen to use an alcohol and fluoride-free mouthwash on a regular basis; or suggest they gargle with a saltwater solution.  For other body parts, try to get them some germicidal soap, which kills disease-causing bacteria and microorganisms.
