Romney Says Clinton's Introduction Will Do Good

Romney: A few words from Bill Clinton

Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney addressed the Clinton Global Initiative this morning. Former U.S. president, Bill Clinton, introduced Mr. Romney by alluding to how Mr. Clinton used a Boston schools program called City Year to model his Americorp foreign aid program. Mr. Clinton continued by citing how 80 percent of volunteers involved by the program modeled by Boston’s City Year are employed in South Africa. After being introduced Mr. Romney started his speech by showing his gratitude towards Mr. Clinton’s introduction.

“If there’s one thing that we’ve learned in this election season, by the way, it is that a few words from Bill Clinton can do a man a lot of good,” Mr. Romney said. “All I’ve got to do now is wait a couple of days for that bounce to happen.”

Mr. Romney said how much of a benefit it is for Mr. Clinton to support any cause. He continued to cite how although the United States makes up a small part of the global population, we fund a large part of foreign aid among all countries.

Mr. Romney also gave a narrative on how our current state among global events puts us at a disadvantage. He states that he will not apologize for the United States. Mr. Romney categorized the U.S. Embassy’s response to protests in Egypt as an apology. Mr. Romney was heavily criticized for attacking the Obama administration after protests in Libya led to the assassination to the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens.

Mr. Romney also argued that countries that promote free enterprise amassed more wealth than neighboring less-developed countries. He proposed to help countries build businesses and promote economic growth in developing nations. Romney also argued that a system of free enterprise is what has always help lift people out of poverty.
