The slumber party is an age-old right of passage for tween girls. Boys like a good sleepover too, but, for girls, they’re truly a special bonding experience. Most moms have fond memories from their childhood, however hosting a slumber party isn’t quite as appealing. Planning is key for surviving a group of squealing, giggling girls overnight without spending the rest of the weekend recovering. First, make sure your daughter and her friends are old enough to enjoy spending a night away from home. PBS advises: “Sleepovers are most popular for kids eight to 14. If your child is younger than eight, she and her friends may not be ready to spend the night away from home.”
