Marvel Comics recently unveiled a new Spider-Woman cover concept with the titular character on all fours in a spandex outfit that prompted Slate to call it, “More like a colonoscopy than a costume.” While comics are notorious for their hyper-sexualized heroines, this cover took it to a new level. On the plus side, it’s sparked needed conversations about how women are portrayed and how to appeal to female readers.
