Although they have narrowed down some risk factors and possible triggers for bruxism, experts still don’t know exactly what causes it. According to The Bruxism Association, 70% of teeth grinding is caused by stress and anxiety—this is true for both adults and children.  A recent study at Tel Aviv University supports this. Lead researcher Ephraim Winocur reports, “Interaction with people seems to be necessary to trigger bruxism in socially anxious people. By treating social anxiety, we will be able to treat bruxism as well,”
