4. Keep it Separate
Keep your business and personal finances separate. Start with separate bank account, establish a business credit card, incorporate and file taxes separately. Failure to keep your business and personal accounts separate will get you into trouble in more ways than you can count. This is a golden rule when it comes to how to start a business.

5. Own Your Name 
Once you’ve picked the perfect name, own it. Register it under the Patent and Trademark laws, and make sure you’re the only one who has the right to use it. Don’t work hard to create a brand name that someone else already owns, or that can be taken away from you.
