Slice the poundcake into bread-like slices and toast until crispy and golden-brown.
Meanwhile, mix the cream cheese* with the turmeric (add more or less if needed, to achieve the classic yellow of the American cheese).
Spread on slices; make sandwiches and let the cream cheese or buttercream ooze out a bit to give the melted cheese look.
