We live in a digital world, so it seems like the easiest and fastest way to jot down your task list would be to use a task-management app, right? Maybe. Those programs have their perks, for sure. But there is something really beneficial about physically writing down, and even drawing, your ideas. It all goes back to this idea of visualization, which is a really powerful tool in actually achieving your goals and moving past the intention-setting stage and into a place of action, according to Frank Niles, Ph.D., in an article for the Huffington Post. He explains, “When we visualize our desired outcome, we begin to “see” the possibility of achieving it. Through visualization, we catch a glimpse of what is, in the words of one writer, our “preferred future.” When this happens, we are motivated and prepared to pursue our goal.” In other words, sometimes if you see it, you’ll believe it, you’ll want it more and you’ll better understand what you need to do to get there.
