Most ships have dining and entertainment. If you’re vacation plans include sunning on the deck, cocktail in hand, they can probably accommodate you. If you’re looking for adventurous shore trips or the chance to go scuba diving at a port of call, make sure those side trips are offered.

4. When do you want to travel?
Ships that depart from northern ports head south in the winter. If you’re not near a departure part you’ll have to plan on additional travel costs. Ships also reposition throughout the year (and offer repositioning cruises) as they move from summer to winter cruising.
