So now, as I work with and encourage my daughters to be bilingual, I do so knowing that they’ll thank me for it later, just as I’ve thanked my dad—countless times—for insisting that my sister and I grew up bilingual from birth. There are many reasons I want to share this same gift with my kids, and here are just a few of them:
